1/10 Scale Boats

  6-10-09

First off this month I must congratulate the University of Washington Fast Pitch Softball Team which just won the National Title, and most importantly Danielle Lawrie who pitched every inning during the tournament. Also I would be remiss if I didn't include the University of Washington Varsity Eight who just won the Inter-Collegiate Rowing Association Championship.
I also want to thank all those who took the time to vote and send it into NAMBA on the Fast Electric 1/10 Scale Hydro rule proposal. It has passed, so now we have 2 scale classes to choose from. (1/8 scale hydro and 1/10 scale hydro). Check our links page list for clubs that may have 1/10 and 1/8 scale Hydros for sale during the year.
We in the Northwest have been talking about stream lining the Fast Electric rules in NAMBA. One thought has been if individual classes have not been run at a National event for 2 race seasons it would be dropped from the National rules. We have been running Spec. classes at our club races but should they be added to the National rule set? Most clubs are running some sort of Spec classes. Another thought was brought up at the club level, should we have an open class that would combine "Q", "S" and "T" classes? This has come from the Nitro and Gas clubs that do something similar. These are just some of what has and is being discussed. I know NAMBA National would like to have the Electric rules be stable like Nitro or Gas but the Electric side is and will continue to evolve because of new technology each year.
Our racing season is close to the mid point and so far this season we have added 5 new members and may be adding another race site--more on that later. We also may add 2 more races in October in Yakima, Washington.  Central Washington Model Boat Club in eastern Washington has expressed an interest in the UL1 AquaCraft hull and would like to start a class with that hull, mimicking the Unlimited Lights. We already have one race a year in Granger Washington with their club with a combined race with Nitro and Electric. The Yakima races would be Electric only. If this works out we will post an update on the schedule link.
